I’ve been away on holiday to Croatia, staying on one the Dalmatian islands called Brác staying in a little resort called Bol, it was a gorgeous place and the Adriatic Sea was blue and beautiful and loved swimming in the warm waters.
Once home I caught up with my favourite program Holby City. This particular program was a special one around Sacha Levy ( actor: Bob Barrett) and his depression with him taking to the roof ready to take his life before colleague Ric Griffin ( actor: Hugh Quarshie) talks him out of it.
The program showed Sacha having flashbacks to hard times including losing a patient which tipped him over the edge. The BBC I think did a great job in bringing depression to the attention of the watchers of the program. Some of the program I found made me feel a little emotional as from a point of view of someone who has suffered with depression could absolutely relate to the character’s emotion. Bob Barrett was brilliant, it was a real tear jerker for me.
It showed depression and what it does do people even to those who are upbeat and generally happy. It can bite anyone in the ass no matter what.
