Abuse in the press.

Lately there have been stories that have been in the media regarding to abuse especially sexual abuse. Many people are now finding the courage to speak up and speak to officers in regards to abuse they have suffered.

Of course there have been some high profile cases but there has also been an increase of recorded child abuse offences too meaning more children are seeking help because of sexual abuse. Which of course is great thing, it takes mighty courage and strength to do so but at the same time no child has to suffer at the hands of a sadistic adult. Many children and adults alike not just women, men too are opening up and breaking the silence on abuse.

Unfortunately not many people get justice and the bigger issue is the physiological impact it has in children, the weight a victim of child abuse is huge upon shoulders. I know, I’ve been there and carried for so long the burden became to heavy, too much sinking me into the ground. You simply can’t get over it, it doesn’t work like that.

Shockingly 90% of child abuse victims know their abuser usually a family member or a family friend. Many children struggle with the consequences of child abuse later on in life with post traumatic stress disorder, depression, substance or alcohol abuse to Block out the pain or worse turn to crime.

Schools are now trained to spot children who may be at the hands of sexual or other abuse in the home. Many children become withdrawn, behaviour changes or may have physical injuries to the body. Many schools have posters for children and adults alike who suspect foul play within a child’s home. There is far more support now than there ever use to be and a child safely removed and counselled are far more likely to have some sort of recovery than not. The only other issue is the internet, it has dirty dark secrets and it’s as big as the universe with lots of nooks and crannies as well as the dark net where pedophiles lurk. It’s a frightening notion knowing that there are children being forced into god knows what for some dirty perverts pleasure. It makes me feel sick to core. It’s times where I wish the internet did not exist. Would it make the world a safer place? I hardly doubt it.
